MIVIC SL Breaks Ground on Sustainable Mixed-Use Development

MIVIC SL, one of Equatorial Guinea’s leading real estate and construction firms, has officially broken ground on a landmark sustainable mixed-use development in the heart of Malabo. This ambitious project is the latest initiative spearheaded by Crispin Edu Tomo Maye, Founder and Chairman of MIVIC SL, and is set to redefine the future of urban development in the country.

Visionary Urban Transformation

The new development will integrate residential, commercial, and recreational spaces, providing a vibrant and eco-conscious environment for modern living. With over 45,000 square meters of planned construction, the project aims to foster walkability, community engagement, and environmental sustainability.

“This isn’t just another real estate venture,” said Crispin Edu Tomo Maye at the groundbreaking ceremony. “We are building a new model of living—one that blends convenience, culture, and climate responsibility.”

A Model of Sustainability

True to MIVIC SL’s values, the project incorporates green building technologies, including solar energy systems, water recycling infrastructure, and smart lighting. Materials will be sourced locally wherever possible to support the domestic economy and reduce the environmental footprint.

The design, approved by an international panel of architects and urban planners, also includes community gardens, shaded courtyards, and accessible commercial zones.

Empowering Local Talent

Over 300 local construction workers and subcontractors are expected to be employed throughout the build, with specialized training provided in sustainable construction methods. Crispin Edu Tomo Maye emphasized that “development means nothing without the people—this is about jobs, dignity, and future skills.”

Setting a New Standard

Scheduled for phased completion by 2027, the mixed-use complex is already drawing attention from investors, urbanists, and environmentalists across Central Africa. For Crispin Edu Tomo Maye, this project reflects a long-standing commitment to not only build structures—but to shape legacies.

“We want Malabo to be a symbol of how African cities can grow—proudly, sustainably, and intelligently,” said Crispin Edu Tomo Maye. “This is the future, and we’re building it now.”
